These 18k Granulation Classical Shield Oval Rainbow Moonstone Dangle Earrings are pretty stunning. I’ve had these amazing rainbow moonstones for a long while and they needed something special and here we are! These moonstone cabochons are bezel-set in 18k gold with 18k granulation around the outside. Classic and outstanding in color and balance!
Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans for thousands of years. I alloy 24k gold down to 18k and create tiny granules. I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heat using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface.
These have a nice weight and movement and are made with a classic french hook. I provide a little silicone ear nut for safety and comfort.
