This ring is 18k gold fused to 18k gold in an intricate organic pattern emphasizing the round green emeralds are bezel-set with granules peppering the surface. there are several patterns represented in the design. This unique surface will get more interesting with wear.
Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans. I alloy 24k gold down to 22k and 18k and create tiny granules. I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heated using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface.
