Victorian Hearts Dangle Earrings with Vitreous Enamel

This is a lovely Victorian heart charm in sterling silver with vitreous enamel melted into the recesses. The original design was made of fine silver granulation. Then I made a mold, then cast, then enameled and polished!
Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans. I melt 999.99% Fine Silver and create tiny granules and wire. I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heat using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface. I then make a mold and pull a wax copy of this original granulation. Then I cast it using the Lost Wax process and finally enamel your charms in a kiln with powdered glass.
