These faceted round blue topaz gems are bezel-set in a cast copy of my fine silver granulation shield.
Granulation is an ancient fusing process in which I make all the tiny spheres and place them with a brush before fusing them with a mouth torch. I then make a mold, then a wax copy, and through the process of lost wax casting I make these cast earrings in silver. These blue topaz silver earrings are patinaed, pin-polished and given a light polish for a bright shimmer.
