These faceted round purple amethysts are bezel-set in a cast copy of my fine silver granulation shield that has been enameled with chartreuse for a lovely color combination.

Granulation is an ancient fusing process in which I make all the tiny spheres and place them with a brush before fusing them with a mouth torch. I then make a mold, then a wax copy, and through the process of lost wax casting I make these cast earrings in silver. Then they are wet packed with enamel and fired in the kiln, polished and then the stones are set.
